My name is Harley Hunter. I was a pioneer with the first national financial planning company in the mid 60s before there was ever a financial planning industry. As a financial planning innovator, I was fortunate to build two very successful companies over a 40 year period, each one specializing in a distinct high end financial planning niche. EMPLOYMENT HISTORY, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE & EDUCATION:

SUMMARY – Majority of last 40 years (1966-2005) spent consulting with high income, high net worth clients (individuals, private corporations) and their CPAs, tax, business and estate planning attorneys in coordinating a variety of legal and financial strategies to solve the client’s tax problems and accomplish their personal, family, business and charitable objectives. The last 20 years spent almost exclusively in coordinating the best of the domestic tax and asset protection strategies with the best of the international tax and asset protection strategies for qualified clients.

OTHER SPECIFICS:

1994-2005 – President/CEO Global Strategies Group Ltd. – Operated, coordinated and administered the world wide activities involving multiple domestic and international relationships among a variety of legal and financial disciplines for the benefit of clients (including a billionaire) with incomes in excess of $500,000 per year and net assets exceeding $5M. Some highlights:

  • Consulted with the foreign owner of Global regarding the creation, development, implementation and administration of a proprietary method of coordinating various legal instruments and entities providing the ultimate in financial, investment, asset protection, tax, business, and heritage/legacy planning.
  • Taught the above technique to tax, business, and estate planning attorneys, and CPAs who became referral sources of business.
  • Pro-Bono consulting to an international Christian charitable foundation regarding fund raising, administration, communication, investments, etc. Built the foundation’s assets from zero to over $60M in 7 years.

1972-1994 – Founder and President of SMH Inc., the predecessor to Global Strategies Group Ltd. prior to its sale to a private foreign owner.

1972-1988 – Managed and administered the affairs of an NASD Broker/Dealer, SEC Registered Investment Advisor, and a Life & Health General Insurance Agency. Some highlights:

  • Performed financial, tax, business, investment planning services for high income, high net worth clients including “private” pensions, recapture of lost opportunity costs, & generation of tax free passive income.
  • Developed the expertise of coordinating traditional business entities and financial vehicles to work together, thereby creating more efficiency and flexibility.
  • Took over the management of a failing television station, paid off all creditors, relieved the principal of $10M in liabilities – 1985-1986.
  • Consultant to companies involved in the oil & gas, publishing, hotel, real estate, TV, fast food, nursing home and assisted living retirement center industries regarding the organization, structure, and fund raising for tax shelter programs which financed projects in excess of $300M – 1972-1984.

1970-1972 – PetroSearch Inc. – structured/organized and raised funds for private placement real estate and oil & gas investment programs; most notable was the Ponderosa Ranch, now part of the Keystone Ski & Golf Resort, Colorado.

1967-1970 – Financial Service Corporation of America (the nation’s 1st national financial planning company and a pioneer in the industry) – Regional Manager. Created and developed the Elite Wealth Plan protocol, my business model for success, which allowed me to build two very successful financial planning companies (SMH, Inc & Global Strategies Group, Ltd).
